The Mother Mary Augustine Claven Honors Scholarship
The young woman who wins this scholarship is outstanding in many respects. Her academic excellence has been demonstrated through her academic record as well as her standardized test scores. She has exhibited exceptional leadership potential and she possesses truly extraordinary character. Scholarship, leadership, and integrity—these are the defining characteristics of the Mother Mary Augustine Claven Honors Scholar.
The scholarship, generously sponsored by the faculty and staff of Lauralton Hall, awards full tuition for all four high school years
The scholarship is named for Mother Claven who founded the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall in 1905. In founding a girls’ academy in Milford, the native-born Sister of Mercy was continuing a tradition of convent schools long in existence in Europe and one which had already been the work of the Mercy order in Hartford, Lakeville, New Haven and Putnam, Connecticut.
